25-year-old Charlotte Thornber aims to be a motivated, focused and keen individual driven and dedicated to ‘crack cases’ and search for resolutions to help others. Her motto is ‘there is only one truth’.
After graduating with Criminology degree, she joined the police force in South Yorkshire during her course. Fast-forward to 2015 and Charlotte’s passion for investigations seemed to drive her to do more than the bureaucracy of the police.
Starting completely alone, being new to business, Charlotte setup her own practice, Taylor Investigations. The challenges of her own business have offered her many valuable growth opportunities and welcoming learning experiences in various investigative and security situations. Today Taylor Investigations are a nationwide private investigation and close protection company for both private and corporate clients and have staff throughout the UK and internationally to deal with all enquiries.
The services offered include; matrimonial and pre marital investigations, surveillance, missing people, debtor tracing, beneficiary and policyholder tracing, background and pre employment checks, employment physical impairment investigations, insurance investigations and asset tracing.

1) What motivated you to become a private investigator?
After joining the police force at the young age of 19, it opened my eyes to world I was unaware of. Shortly after I developed a particular skill set and the passion for investigation grew from there. It was particularly interesting as it got more complex with investigations from working on them start to finish aiming for a productive end result. After 5 years in the police, I decided to use my investigation skills elsewhere and away from the police. From there I embarked on researching the industry of private investigation and making connections, learning all I was able to which lead to my business being born.
2) What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is certainly getting the end result for the client, in effect ‘cracking the case’. There are times when it may be far from the answers they are looking for however for them it is closure. I work with counsellors and solicitors to ensure aftercare for the client and they are supported throughout, as the cases may be quite emotive.
3) How does private investigation help others?
Finding the answers people are looking for. Whether it is investigating an individual to support a legal case, tracing a debtor or finding a long lost loved one. Our clients are searching for a resolution and an answer and this is what I am able to provide which is invaluable. My motto is ‘there is only one truth’. I also provide legal services to solicitors assisting in their cases and provide validation to any information a client may have already received.
